sonic evolutions for workfriends as ‘wasting time’ propels the band into new territory

Release date: 26 May 2023

The sextet (or hexad) that is workfriends have announced, for the second time in two months, a new single – ‘Wasting Time’. This follow up release is presented to us in post-haste of their first single of 2023 ‘Here It Comes’ which was gifted to the world on 7th April.

‘Wasting Time’ is perhaps the single that best demonstrates workfriends’ unique shapeshifting ability. A softer, more hopeful effort than their previous singles, workfriends utilise catchy guitar lines and layered vocals to create a beautiful, dynamic song that brings to mind the melodic pop of the 60s. Still containing the group’s signature bite and chaos, ‘Wasting Time’ gives the listener a rear window view of a protagonist as they leisurely waste the day away – at once lonesome and at peace.

Workfriends will also be playing Tuned In Festival in Sheffield on 24th June. Steel City we envy you.

Swelt release 'My Only Reflection' as first single of their second EP. 1
